On March 27th, the Strathcona
Firefighters Honour Guard and K-Rock Radio hosted the "Burning
for Knowledge-Comedy Fundraiser" at Festival Place in
support of the Lillydale B. School in South Africa.
The event featured an evening of adult comedy with
comic sound impressionist Herb Dixon and Johnny "Bagpipes"Johnston.
In conjunction with the comedy night, the Guard
hosted a silent auction. This auction featured several different items
from businesses and organizations within our community.
In addition to the silent auction, fundraising
also included a live auction for a trip for two to South Africa. This
trip is provided by Reservations Africa and is
valued at $20,000.00. All proceeds raised through ticket sales and
auctions will support he Lillydale B. School in South Africa.
